The site of horse race, sporting events, political meetings, festivities, now bears some of the landmarks of ancient civilizations. Blue Mosque. Daylight penetrating through stained-glass windows on traditional blue tiles with various natural patterns creates a harmony of color and a soothing sense of inner peace. The Mosque of Sultan Suleyman. Constructed during the reign of Sultan Suleyman the lowgiver, at the peak of the Ottoman Dynasty. Not only a mosque, it was also a complex consisting a theological school and a kitchen for the poor. One of the best samples of the work of the architect Sinan the Great. Grand Bazaar. The largest bazaar in the world, contains four thousand four hundred shops under one roof, labyrinth-like alleys, mysterious cul-de-sacs which make the bazaar an indispensable part of any trip to the city.
